WXIX FOX 19 television started its production as a private channel. The channel was inaugurated on August 1, 1968. It was produced by the U.S. Corporation. The company also held UHF private channels. WXIX FOX included WATL-TV in Atlanta, WMAQ NBC 5 News Chicago in Pittsburgh, WPHL-TV in Philadelphia, and KEMO-TV in San Francisco.
The ownership of WXIX FOX was divided into two companies. The U.S. Communications Corporation station group of Philadelphia holding an 80% interest and the remaining 20% by Daniel H. Over-Myer.
By the start of the 1970s, U.S. Communications faced many financial hurdles. It was chiefly because of the low commercial revenues. In the end, the company had no option but to take off its San Francisco, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh channels in 1971. They were all advised to re-start their production under different ownership. Later, it was advised the same for WXIX-TV.
Contradictory to that it put the station up for auction. The channel “WXIX-TV” was sold to Metromedia in 1972. WXIX is affiliated with Fox. It is since then working for Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. WXIX FOX is permitted in Newport, Kentucky.

WXIX FOX Cincinnati was the first new commercial channel in the business in 1949. It also earned the rank of being the second UHF channel in the area. The construction license for channel 74 was given to Over-Myer on March 10, 1965. On August 10, 1965, Over-Myer made a request to alternate the placement of the WXIX FOX from 74 to 29.

It is the only advertising station in Cincinnati to be permitted on the Kentucky side of the business. FOX 19 News is under the authority of Gray Television. WXIX-TV’s offices are situated at 19 Broadcast Plaza on Seventh Street. It is just west of downtown Cincinnati. The transmitting tower is placed in the South Fairmount neighborhood on the northwest side of Cincinnati.
