In the beginning, WSBT FOX was associated with all four major networks of the time. It was the main associate of CBS. The channel had second associations with secondary with NBC, ABC, and DuMont. It lost the previous three networks at the time when WBND ABC 57 News South Bend (a Heroes & Icons associated) went on the air on March 1954.
This was the first UHF outlet in the United States to run a live telecast. It was a five-minute regional news bulletin. FOX WSBT is the oldest nonstop running UHF channel in the country. During the analog time period, it switched channels for once. In the starting, it was broadcasted on UHF station 34. In 1958, the outlet shifted to channel 22. WSBT FOX News was the first channel on UHF to run a high school basketball game. It came from John Adams High School. In 1953, WSBT had many sports-related firsts.
