WRIC ABC 8 News Richmond transmitting tower was situated in the Bermuda Hundred area of eastern Chesterfield County. Whereas the primary facilities of the channel were placed in Petersburg. In the beginning, the channel was not able to expand its coverage in Richmond the way WTVR-TV (6) and WWBT did. Initially, Richmond sales had its facilities placed at WLEE’s offices on West Broad Street in Richmond. In 1965, ABC 8 WRIC and station 12 interchanged association.

This ended up making WRIC, an ABC associate. And since then the station has been linked with the network. Nationwide Communications bought WXEX-TV from Tinsley in 1968. A fire broke out in 1969 and abolished its main Petersburg offices. WRIC was forced to telecast from its transmitting tower for a couple of weeks. Later on, it set up impermanent offices in an emptied store in Petersburg. Later, ABC 8 WRIC moved its facility to a new office on Crater Road.

The television named it Blandford Manor. Nationwide auctioned its related channel WLEE in 1981. ABC 8 WRIC shifted to its present located offices on Arboretum Place in Chesterfield County. This shift was made on April 23, 1990. After settling in the new office, the channel came up with new call letters, WRIC.
