KSNV NBC appeared on the air as KLRJ-TV on VHF channel 2. This took place on January 23, 1955. It was initially certified to Henderson and was under the authority of Southwestern Publishing Company. The ownership came along with the Las Vegas Review-Journal and KORK radio. In September 1955, it altered its calls to KORK-TV to match its radio stations. KSNV NBC News soon after shifted its city of permit and office facilities to Las Vegas. It has always been associated with NBC.
Affiliation and History of KSNV:
In 1967, KSNV shifted to channel 3. This action was taken in order to operate from Potosi Mountain. So that it is not being short-spaced to KNXT which is now KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. It also ran its production on channel 2. This change also allowed KSNV in Reno to start its production on station 2. The schedule time was on June 4 of that year. In 1971, a group of regional residents started an effort to take control of channel 3. It was led by Las Vegas attorney Jim Rogers. His group gained more support when Donrey started to heavily obstruct NBC production. It was in order to sell more regional advertising in the late 1970s.
