KATU ABC 2The transmitter facility of KATU is present in the Sylvan Highlands of Portland. In 1958, channel 2 was granted a manufacturing license. Till 1962, KATU news was not able to operate its transmission and airing. Initially, it performed its operations as the maverick platform. The station relocated its transmitter spire and electronics to 21 miles in West Hills of Portland to enhance signal strength in 1964.

In the beginning, the transmitter of KATU was present on the summit of Livingston Mountain, Washington. KATU ABC launched its second digital subsidiary channel 2.2 that carries MeTV and upgraded from its former affiliate This TV in 2012. The station initiated its third subordinate channel 2.3 in 2016. In the year 2017, ABC 2 set up a fourth subchannel and attached it to the stadium. Currently, KATU television airs for almost thirty-three hours of newsfeeds covered from areas of Portland each week. It transmits 5 hours of newscasts each weekday and almost three hours of news on weekends. From 2006-7, KATU News Channel concluded in 3rd rank in general ratings of News stations in the local market. It chased KPTV and KGW which are leading in the rating board.

KATU ABC earned 2 Edward Awards in 2006. A song vocalized on the investigation of a newborn child with brain injury won the award of Best writing and transmission on KATU ABC. It was the 3rd TV network to start its airing of news feeds in a wide spectrum and normal resolution in 2007. A year later it upgraded its equipment of set up and started transmission in HD quality and full studio-sized appliances in 2009 in the market of Portland.
