It replaced the CCTV-9 on television which also used to be an English language news channel. The channel is available for watching via satellite and cable TV. Adding to that CGTN America also offers live streaming on its official website. The channel is quite famous in the American news networks and it has also won many awards. It’s a program named “Jen Bricker: When Can’t is a Four-Letter Word” won an Emmy Award in 2016 as an outstanding feature in a news magazine. Some other programs on the channel also won awards at other award shows and festivals.

The World Today is aired on the channel and in it, all the latest news from all across the world is broadcasted. But the major focus is on the regions of North and South America. On weekdays, this program goes live at 2, 3, 5, 6:30 and 8 PM as per the US Eastern time. There another program that focuses on the financial and economic issues reporting is aired on the weekdays. The reporting is mostly about the North and South American areas. It also includes economic and financial issues of China and some other Asian regions.
